Hudson Country Montessori Toddler Program
Our Montessori Toddler program was created specifically to appeal to the amazing physical, emotional and cognitive needs of busy toddlers- their boundless energy, their unwavering determination and their insatiable curiosity. While toddler activity may appear random to some adults, Montessori teachers redirect toddler energy to purposeful work building neural connections in preparation for future academic success. Our goal is to create an environment where your child’s curiosity can flourish, and their love for learning can grow. We can't wait to welcome you and your toddler to our vibrant community!
A Toddler Program Encourages “Mommy, By Myself”
Toddlers between the ages of 18 to 36 months are at a special age where they love to do things on their own. We help them develop independence by providing a safe, and nurturing environment that is designed to appeal to the natural curiosities of busy toddlers. In addition to practicing daily living skills, we give toddlers just enough control to feel self-confident and competent. These activities include self care, care of the environment and respect for others.
By the time your toddler is ready to move to preschool, they will feel confident and capable, which is so important for their self-esteem and future academic success.
Montessori Materials for Toddlers
Our dedicated teachers continuously refresh the toddler environment with Montessori materials that challenge and stimulate toddlers’ evolving abilities and curiosity. The materials are designed to teach specific concepts that are presented in a specific sequence of increased difficulty. When presented in the correct sequence, the materials give the children a challenge followed by a deep sense of satisfaction and self-confidence that ultimately contributes to their overall skills and their self-esteem.
In addition to the full complement of Montessori materials, our Toddlers are also exposed to various art mediums, such as music, movement and lots of outdoor time to develop creative and social skills.
Amazing Montessori Teachers for Your Toddler
Our teachers are mature, experienced and specially certified in Montessori for Toddlers. The majority of our teachers have been with us for over ten years, so you can trust that your child will have a strong bond with their teachers. That continuity of consistent loving relationships is really important for developing emotional intelligence and strong social skills.
A Learning Community: Partnering with Families
The partnership we have with families is the true strength of our program. Toddlers evolve at such a rapid pace, that it is a challenge to keep up with their developing needs. Our dedicated teachers help to provide the best parenting experience for children and they are always ready to help with parenting questions and concerns. In addition, we have formal parent teacher conferences and a variety of community events to help parents connect with the teachers and the other families.
Toddlers Blossom in a Beautiful Montessori Environment
Our bright and airy Toddler classrooms are designed for young children. Here, any child can paint, cook, water the garden, sing songs with friends, and work with specially selected materials that develop fine and gross motor skills, cognitive thinking skills and social/emotional skills. This sense of confidence is very calming for toddlers, which explains why Montessori toddler rooms are typically calm and quiet, yet bustling with activity.
Language and Literature: A Rich Environment
We surround the children with a language rich environment that includes lots of interactive conversation to support this once-in-a-lifetime period of rapid language development. Toddlers meet for circle time to learn songs, share stories, and explore literature, all of which help develop memory, language skills, and vocabulary.
First Friends
Making first friends and learning how to function as an active member of a caring community is a life-shaping experience for a child. Our teachers encourage social/emotional development by respecting every toddler as a unique individual with their own learning style. By helping each child build a foundation of respect for oneself, for others and for their environment, our toddlers become cherished members and best friends in our small classroom communities.
No Terrible Twos Here
At Hudson, we are specifically trained to work in harmony with the basic nature of toddlers. Parents are often surprised to see the quiet, peaceful tone of our toddler program. The calm, quiet atmosphere helps children develop impulse control and concentration, planting the seeds for learning now and for their future.
Exploration and Discovery: Encouraging Curiosity
At Hudson, we've crafted a Montessori learning environment that truly sparks the natural curiosity in every child. We believe that curiosity is the key to incredible learning experiences, and we nurture it every step of the way.
There's a world of exciting things to see, touch, hear, feel, and explore in our classrooms. Our materials are thoughtfully designed to be visually appealing and inviting, almost as if they're saying, "Come work with me!"
STEM/STEAM: Experiential Learning
At Hudson, our toddlers dive into the exciting world of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math (STEAM) through beautiful hands-on materials that just want to be touched by small hands. Imagine your little one sequencing, sorting, organizing, patterning, stacking, rolling, pushing, lifting, pouring, blowing, kneading, building, and painting—all in a day's learning! These activities are designed to build a strong foundation in STEAM concepts in a fun and engaging way.
In our classrooms, toddlers get to explore and discover the principles of physics, engineering, and math through interactive play. During circle time, we chat about fascinating topics like the science of plants, animals, weather, seasons, recycling, health, and even the sun, moon, and earth. We tie these discussions to the stories and literature we share, making learning a seamless and enjoyable experience.
Art, design, and engineering are woven into all the materials we use, encouraging sensory and motor development.
Calendar/Schedule
Our Toddler calendar follows our school year calendar. We have a 10 month school year program and a two month summer camp program.
- School Year Program: Students enrolled in the school year program make a commitment for the entire school year. The calendar for the school year program loosely follows the Danbury or New Rochelle Public school district calendar.
- Summer Camp Program: Our New Rochelle program offers 8 weeks of summer camp while our Danbury campus offers a 9 week summer program. Students enrolled in the summer camp program can enroll for as few as two weeks.
- Extended Day/Extended Year: Students enrolled in Hudson’s school or camp program may enroll in our extended day and/or vacation school programs.
- Year Round Program: Our Year Round program offers a preferential tuition rate for students that participate in our school, camp and extended day/year programs.
- Part-day/Part Week: Part week and part day toddler schedules are available during both our school year program and our summer program. There are some requirements for the part-time schedule.
